Pregnancy is a wonderful event in a woman's life. But this can also be a stressful journey especially for those who are not ready to be a parent yet or for those who lack support from family, relatives and friends. All through out pregnancy, the mother should have a happy or at least a positive outlook. It is a known fact that whatever the mother eats, the baby is nourished by it as well. The same goes with emotions and stress. What the expecting mother is feeling, the unborn child is also affected. Little do they know, that once in this depressing state, the foetus is exposed to the toxins and stress hormones released by the downhearted mother. The effect can be later on seen on the child such as being hyper or under active, inattentive or unable to control one's self. So as much as possible, a pregnant mother should gain control over the distressing circumstances, not the other way around.
One trick to lose stress is to give enough time for yourself. If you are still going to work with bulging belly, rest during break time and stop thinking about things that are work related. This is not only a good time for you but for the baby as well. While at home, let your partner do the weekly chores for you. Surely he'd be glad to help. You may also take a trip to the salon if this is therapeutic for you. Give yourself a treat. Do anything that would make you feel serene or happy even just for a couple of hours.
Men releases anxieties by getting busy or getting sober and drunk for a night. Women, on the other hand, releases anxiety and worries by talking about it. Share your pregnancy concerns with your partner, family or a trusted friend especially those people who already experienced being pregnant or have children. They may definitely give you advices that would boost your emotions in your current sensitive condition. If you have doubts and uncertainties on how your child inside is doing, ask your midwife or doctor so they can assure you that nothing's wrong with the baby.
Pregnancy is not an excuse for doing an exercise. This activity is sure to give you tension-relieving benefits aside from having a toned, strong and healthy pregnant body. Nowadays, there are a lot of exercise variations suited for an expecting mother. You can do some yoga, swimming and walking that are not strenuous enough for your current status.
Last but definitely not the least, is to let go of the matters, events and changes that you can't handle. You do not have to give each and every concern a solution such as morning sickness, alterations happening in your relationship and alike. During the latter part of your pregnancy, you must stop working and avail that maternity leave. Your job may demand so much time from you and it would make you more fatigue and stressed. Remember that you and your baby's health is more important than those files on your desk. |
