Improve Your Chances of Conceiving

Written by babymaking.co.uk

Some would define motherhood as the essence of being a woman. Unfortunately, not every matured female can conceive. Because of genetic factors, environmental causes and reproductive problems there are a lot of woman who are infertile or sometimes experiences miscarriage. A simply change of lifestyle would help you improve your chances of building a family of your own.

A well nourished body is more likely to conceive. Stop dieting. You should prepare your body to nourish a baby that would live inside you for nine months. Include in your daily meal a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables (at least five servings a day) as well as foods rich in vitamins, minerals and anti oxidants. This is also necessary for males so that they'll have a healthier sperm production.

You may also take multivitamins and supplements that are made for pre-pregnancy and/or pregnancy. The most advised supplements for those who are planning pregnancy or those who are already pregnant are iron supplements and supplements with folic acid. Folic acid is very important in cell division. This is also very beneficial in protecting your baby from certain abnormalities as he develops such as spina bifida. Aside from folic acid supplement, breakfast cereals and certain powdered milk designed for pregnancy have synthetic folic acids which can be easily absorbed and used by the body.

Due to the gaining popularity of naturopathy, there are also herbs that are claimed to boost fertility among females. This includes black cohosh, dong quai, evening primrose oil, false unicorn, red raspberry leaf and chaste berry. However, it is not advisable to take these herbs all at the same time. Although all herbs are fertility enhancers, they still differ in some benefits it could give you. It is not also recommended to try herbs without your OB's consent or supervision.

Your weight is also a big factor if you want to get pregnant. Most overweight or underweight are having a hard time conceiving. One should have a Body Mass Index (BMI) not more than 29 or lower than 19. Over or under weight can lead to disturbance in the menstrual cycle which may lead to ovulation weakness.

Try to exercise at least 30 minutes a day. A simply brisk walk would do. It would help you control your weight and it can even increase your libido which is very essential if you are really eager to have kids.

Studies show that alcohol is a cell poison that risks the development of baby inside the mother's womb, especially in the crucial first trimester of pregnancy. It also reduces fertility and decreases the chance of a woman to get pregnant. Too much alcohol intake can result to absence of menstrual period (amenorrhea), lack of ovulation (anovulation), miscarriage and even birth defects.

Alcohol drinking does not only affect woman's fertility but man's fertility too by weakening the ability of his sperm to swim fast in order to fertilize a woman's egg cell. Moreover, men plays an important role in conceiving so they too, must take precautionary actions to avoid impotence. Aside from healthy diet and healthy lifestyle, men must not wear tight shorts or pants since it decreases their sperm count up to 20 percent.
